I started looking for ways to invest in 2016 after watching lots of videos about High Frequency Trading and far too much financial news. I wasn't looking to become a trader — I was looking for a way to put my money to work without needing to become an expert in something I'd never studied.
I came across eToro and their copy trading feature, which lets you automatically copy the investments of more experienced people on the platform. No trading expertise needed — you just find someone whose track record you like, set an amount to copy them with, and the platform does the rest.
I thought "Yep, this could work..." — and I've been documenting the experience ever since.
What This Site Is About
This site is my honest, independent record of using eToro's copy trading feature. I'm not a financial professional. I don't give investment advice. What I do is document what I've learned — how the platform works, how copy trading works in practice, what's gone well, what hasn't, and what I've figured out along the way.
Everything here is from my own experience. I have an affiliate relationship with eToro (I may earn a commission if you sign up through my links), but that doesn't change what I write. I only recommend eToro because it's the platform I actually use and have used for years.
Why Copy Trading?
The honest answer is that I didn't want to become a trader. I have no particular interest in staring at charts all day or learning the technical ins and outs of financial markets. Copy trading appealed to me because it lets experienced investors do the investing, while I benefit from their decisions — and I can keep doing whatever else I do with my time.
That said, I quickly learned that copy trading isn't passive in the way people sometimes imagine. You still need to choose who to copy carefully, understand the risks, and keep an eye on things. This site is my attempt to share everything I've learned doing that.
